ReboundTAG. Luggage smart tag

The first microchip luggage tag that works in all airports worldwide. It uses an NFC microchip, an RFID microchip, a QR code and a printed ID so that it works in every airport. Members are updated by SMS and email when their bag is found. They will receive the exact coordinates of the bag and the contact info of the person who found and scanned it.

The RFID chip has multiple memory banks – in one of the memory banks the chip stores the permanent ID of that tag which is also printed on the tag and stored in the NFC chip. Another memory bank within the RFID chip is re-writable so that flight details can be stored on the microchip when the person travels. This is an automated system, for instance when you travel through many RFID airports it will encode the flight details on all IATA standard microchips when the bag goes down the conveyor belt, and it encodes our chip when this happens. The flight details are then over-written with new flight details next time you travel.

Some Things to Note Regarding the Microchip:

• ReboundTAG allows your items to be identified and got back to you when they are lost. You cannot just log in any time and see where your bag is – this would require GPS. We do sell GPS devices and can provide one if you want one, but the standard RFID microchip has several advantages:
• RFID does not need recharging – it is powered by the actual microchip readers in the airport. GPS has batteries which must be recharged every time you travel.
• The ReboundTAG has little to no fees – GPS has monthly fees which can be substantial.
• The ReboundTAG goes outside the bag and can be branded so your logo will be seen all over the world – the GPS goes inside the bag and therefore branding is useless.
• RFID is recommended by IATA, whereas several airlines have said they do not want GPS devices.
• Statistically, most people who travel will have their luggage lost by an airline a few times during their lifetime. This means it is prudent and sensible to put a ReboundTAG microchip on there, but having to pay lots of money and recharge something every time you travel is overkill for most people.
• GPS often does not work indoors, especially in the basement areas where many lost bags are stored.
• The standard ReboundTAG is visible on the bag – as well as the branding opportunity for you to get your logo seen all over the world, it also means when the bag is lost the baggage handler can see immediately that there is an identifier on there.

Integration with Baggage Systems

ReboundTAG is integrated with SITA’s WorldTracer system, which is a lost bag reconciliation network used in more than 2800 airports worldwide. In fact, when bags are found we mainly deal with it ourselves rather than through SITA’s system, but the principle of ReboundTAG is that we integrate anything that might be useful to get your property back to you, and WorldTracer is certainly a useful addition to our network.

The ReboundTAG Concierge Service

All ReboundTAG products come with the ReboundTAG Concierge Service whereby you will have people helping you locate your lost possessions. For instance, if your bag is lost we can look through the lost bag databases and try and find it and update you. If your phone is lost, when someone scans the sticker on the phone we can assist in getting it back to you, including connecting you with one of our preferred couriers so that you get a better rate than normal couriers.
